Based on his 'Hole in the wall' project, Sugata reveals some interesting details on the results of his experiments, in which he studied the progress of child learning in the absence of a formal instructor or mentor, and what kind of environment is needed to support independent learning.

ISK High School Workshops
by Amy Forget - Tuesday, 16 September 2008, 08:31 PM
To support the many types of high school learners ISK is offering some of its DL classes in a workshop format. This means students have the option to participate in a once a week, 2 1/2 hour classes lead by a teacher.

For example:
ISK is offering an English 12 Workshop this coming October to December.

Teacher Earl Hamilton will offer a series of 10 workshops on Wednesdays from 1 to 3:30 PM focused on the English 12 course.

These classes will be dynamic, interactive sessions that blend individual work with in-class activities.

ISK is planning a number of workshop courses for the coming year, and also welcomes student requests for particular workshops. Get a number of your friends together and create your own course, or tackle a course that you need with the support of a group and teacher/mentor.

"Information Worth Spreading"
by Amy Forget - Tuesday, 29 January 2008, 01:56 PM
Sir Ken Robinson defines creativity as " the process of having original ideas that have value", which he suggests "most often comes about from the interaction of different disciplines and ways of seeing things". In the following video, Robinson discusses the dynamics of intelligence and the prevailing hierarchy of school systems world wide that have understated this fundamental truth about learning by putting less emphasis on the arts and more on training students for directed occupations in our labour force.

Are school curriculum's missing something?

How do we provide our students with a balanced curriculum that supports multiple intelligences and learning styles?
