Where did ISK go?

In February of 2009 ISK merged with SelfDesign Learning Community- a vibrant K to 9 learning community, to become their high school program. With this merger ISK shifted its name initially to SelfDesign ISK, and now to SelfDesign High.

The International School of the Kootenays Society has transformed to the Kootenay Society for LifeLong Learning (KSLL). The new purpose for this renamed society is:

Through fostering lifelong learning we celebrate the universal human spirit by developing and supporting learning experiences that awaken and engage human potential.

Our society engages with the advancement of Peace and Social Justice through the creation and support of not for profit courses, seminars, projects and workshops for high school learners, community members and international guests.

 KSLL now supports programs like PeaceCamp, Youth Entrepreneurship, and other emerging programs at SelfDesign High.

SelfDesign High is now in the process of developing its new look, including the website and logo. The vision is to take what we have, transform it and make it better!

We offer year round online high school courses and a full graduation program… and more.

Learning takes place through one of three approaches:

Online Courses
• independent, with the support of a certified mentor
• self paced
• available for registration year round

Online Learning Groups
• fully internet based group learning with the support of a mentor
• offered in our 3 yearly sessions
• may be initiated by a group of learners at anytime of the year

Workshop Courses in the community
• dynamic and interactive learning experiences that blend individual online work with group sessions
• meet together with a mentor once or twice a week over a 12 week session
• may be initiated by a group of learners (minimum of six) at anytime of the year

In addition to continual entry into courses, we offer three yearly sessions for learning groups and workshops.

Fall: September to January
Winter: February to June.
Summer Intensive: July and August
