Life is Learning

At ISK we see learning as dynamic. It is fundamentally about life, about knowing how to see and make connections; how to figure things out; how to invent and make things, be they:
- Mathematical hypotheses
- Works of literature
- Pottery bowls
- Conflict resolution techniques
- Musical instruments

Education is about how to understand relationships and those forces that influence how we perceive and come to understand the world around us. It is about discovering one's passion and nurturing it through to dynamic expression.

ISK offers a student centred and enquiry based approach to learning. Our approach is not about filling a vessel with knowledge, but about each student using their heads to think and research, their hearts to imagine and perceive, and their hands and bodies to create, so that education becomes an experience of learning about who are, what we can do, and about our relationship to other people and the world at large.

It is a shared belief at ISK that when students value their own experiences and questions, when they are encouraged to enquire and reflect, then their learning processes can be truly transformative. To support this, our teachers value individual learning styles, independent thinking and questioning and creative problem solving. Our teachers are flexible co-learners who believe learning never stops and that students have the wisdom to share in their learning process.
