Nestled between two Rocky mountain ranges, the Selkirks and the Purcells on the shores of Kootenay Lake, the beautiful, historic city of Nelson boasts some of the most spectacular viewscapes in Canada. Nelson is a place that has an unhurried lifestyle, where people still say “hello” to strangers. Voted the number one place to raise children in Canada, Nelson offers all the convenience of a larger city but on a small, friendly scale. A small city of 10,000, Nelson has retained much of its turn-of-the-century charm from its 350 heritage buildings to a fully restored streetcar. But don’t let its wholesome reputation fool you. Nelson is also Canada’s #1 small arts town, and it’s widely known for its arts scene. This is the city where artists and musicians want to live. Wherever you go, you will see creative, funky arts and crafts: on walls, in stores and restaurants, even in street fashions. Nelson’s young, hip culture is sung daily on the streets by a variety of talented musicians, from kids to Elders. They are sure to both entertain and provoke your interest. If that isn’t enough, the pristine Canadian wilderness surrounding Nelson has world-class recreational sites, some within 15 minutes of the city limits! There are lots of exciting things to see and do for all ages. (See sports page link) Sounds intriguing? Then, don’t wait and check out Nelson’s home pages: |
